ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Reaffirms Its Commitment To Diversity During Small Business Week

Throughout ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s history, we have been committed to the promotion of diverse and inclusive projects that cultivate and stimulate lasting relationships within our local communities. Each of our division’s efforts has resulted in proudly meeting and often exceeding our annual goal of 20% participation with small and disadvantaged business enterprises, including those owned by women, minorities, veterans, LGBTQ+, and disabled persons. Over the last five years, ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has awarded nearly $3.6 billion to small and historically underutilized businesses.

During National Small Business Week and California’s Small Business Month, we celebrate the relationships we have built with these valued partners and the continuous commitment of our teams to raise the standard of excellence on all of our projects. ​​​​​​​

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Diversity Program History

Dating back 30 years, our Diversity Program has been a testament to our commitment to supplier diversity and is a reason why we are a known industry leader. We have been a member of the National Association of Minority Contractors (NAMC) for over 25 years.  Outreach is not just a program, it’s in our DNA through a commitment to the communities in which our employee-owners work and live.

Spearheaded by former Vice President Director of Community Relations and NAMC Hall of Fame inductee Charles “Rick” Moore, the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s Diversity Program began in 1992 following the Los Angeles Race Riots. After the riots, Rick was asked to travel to Los Angeles to engage with the diverse community, and from there, our diversity program was born. Over the next 27 years, Rick helped shape the program into what it is today, garnering ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø numerous awards and positioning the company as a leader in diversity.

To this day, our program continues to evolve with the introduction of new applications and processes. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø is proud to establish a higher standard of excellence for the construction industry with outreach programs to diverse business enterprises. This is not just an effort that we provide for clients that request this consideration; this is a part of ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø’s culture and our commitment our communities.

ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø has 11 regional Community Relations Representatives who plan, implement, and manage our community support, involvement, and outreach with our clients, partners, neighborhoods, agencies, and community-based organizations. They reinforce our reputation as a community builder and act as the bridge between various communities and ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø.

We understand that integrity, leadership, passion, and excellence is integral to every aspect of the work we do and the peace of mind we bring—including our commitment to diversity. Our objective is to ensure that the efforts of our program will have a long and lasting impact on the communities in which we live, serve, and belong.

For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has celebrated , which recognizes the resiliency and tenacity of America’s entrepreneurs. This year, we celebration those business who are doing their part to power our nation’s historic economic comeback. Events are being held throughout the United States to share tools and information that entrepreneurs need to further power economic growth, strengthen supply chains, and deliver the products and services Americans depend on every day.
